Spinal Fusion?

This morning I've been surfing sites on the spine and fusion, and came across an alternative offered for spinal fusion! My own spine had to be fused from the thoracic area down, and this creates inflexibility and discomfort. My daughter worked with a woman whose fusion was failing repeatedly after her scoliosis surgery, and she was in misery. She was having to undergo follow up surgery to try to correct it. I do not know if it ever did prove successful.

The procedure written of on the site I am looking at is arthroscopic laser surgery. It's minimally invasive and the patient walks out the same day. It appears they treat degenerative disc disease (one of the conditions I had), bulging or herniated discs. I'm interested whether any of you have had this procedure or know someone who has? If so, please share your experience here and I'd like to print your story for others.

You can read more about this procedure here:

You might take a look at a company that I ran across. I believe it is called "Advanced Bionics" if I am remembering it right. This company builds the Cochlear Implant for the deaf. There is a video about that product. While researching this product for my niece, I found another product for the spine. It is used instead of spinal fusion and there was a lot of information about how beneficial this product is. My understanding is there is a low voltage charge that stimulates the tissues and things in the area which either causes or encourages the area to regenerate and repair itself. This company also had some other bionic products that I did not look at. I hope you find what you are looking for and that whatever that is, I hope it helps you to feel better and not be in pain.

Oh wow, that is some info I can add here at the blog. I don't think I can use it myself since my spinal fusion did take. LOL, I noticed I put an "h" in fusion in my tags, that looks hilarious.

Anyway, I think I'll do a write up about that in the blog. Maybe tomorrow, I got a ballgame to go watch! Thanks, Royal!

Hey, just found your site... have you checked out this page http://www.spineuniverse.com/displayarticle.php/article298.html

The author, Dr. Berven is a fantastic doctor and very knowledgable (not to mention kind).

Also, you might be interesed in Growing rods (http://www.spineuniverse.com/displayarticle.php/article2047.html), or another idea might be VEPTR... (http://www.spineuniverse.com/displayarticle.php/article1372.html)...

Both of these are pretty cutting edge technological advances I hear.

Thanks for the information. Visit this site http://integratedmedicine.tv/story_1610.html
It has some information on a new minimally invasive, low-impact manner of technique which is now used to operate on severe cases of scoliosis, or curvature of the spine.
Hope to help.
